EPA Partnership Program

The EPA collaborates with over 7000 organizations using voluntary goals and commitments to achieve measurable environmental results in a timely and cost-effective way.

Partners for the Environment is the name given to a collection of more than 80 programs at the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency. These programs meet a variety of environmental needs but share certain elements such as: voluntary participation; non-regulatory drivers; engendering mutual gains for the participant and for the environment; and may offer recognition for outstanding performance.

See a list of these programs here.

The EPA's Volunteer Monitoring Program

Across the country, trained citizen volunteers are monitoring the condition of their local streams, lakes, estuaries, and wetlands. EPA encourages all citizens to learn about their water resources and supports volunteer monitoring because of its many benefits. Volunteer monitors build awareness of pollution problems, become trained in pollution prevention, help clean up problem sites, provide data for waters that may otherwise be unassessed, and increase the amount of water quality information available to decision makers at all levels of government.
