Health Professionals Call for an End to Water Fluoridation
ABC 7 News – Washington - over 600 professionals are urging Congress to ban water fluoridation. They cite new scientific evidence that fluoridation, long promoted to fight tooth decay, is ineffective and has serious health risks, including cancer, especially to infants and children.
- 1 in 3 children have irreversible damage to their teeth (CDC -2005)
- Long term effects of fluoride include bone pain, stiff joints, skeletal abnormalities

Is Fluoride Poisoning us and our children?
NBC 4 – Tennessee - interviews a respected Tennessee medical doctor and lawmaker who is taking a stand against fluoridation in his state.
- Fluoride benefits your teeth applied topically, not when you drink it
- Fluoridation is a drug added to your water without your permission

EPA scientists to U.S. Senate; “Ban Water Fluoridation!”
Sr. V.P. of the EPA Headquarters’ Scientists Union discusses the dangers of fluoride in our drinking water before the U.S. Senate in June 29, 2000.
Although this video is long there are particular points of interest at:
- 2:42 – 2:52: Fluoride is as poisonous as Lead or Arsenic, yet can be 400x higher in our tap water than lead or arsenic.
- 3:56-4:15: Fluoride is suspected in child brain damage
Why is fluoride added to our Drinking Water?
Fluoride is added with the intended purpose of reducing tooth decay in the general population.
When the practice of fluoridation first began, it seemed to be the right thing to do. Fluoride had been proven to fight tooth decay topically (when applied on the outside of your teeth) and no ill side effects were known at that time.
Since then, a number of scientific studies have been done worldwide on fluoride with many very disturbing results.

Well known Medical Professionals objecting to Fluoride
"The American Medical Association is NOT prepared to state that no harm will be done to any person by water fluoridation. The AMA has not carried out any research work, either long-term or short-term, regarding the possibility of any side effects."
- Dr. Flanagan, Assistant Director of Environmental Health,
American Medical Association.
"I am appalled at the prospect of using water as a vehicle for drugs. Fluoride is a corrosive poison that will produce serious effects on a long range basis. Any attempt to use water this way is deplorable."
- Dr. Charles Gordon Heyd, Past President of the American Medical Association.
"The E.P.A. should act immediately to protect the public, not just on the cancer data, but on the evidence of bone fractures, arthritis, mutagenicity and other effects."
- Dr. William Marcus, Senior Toxicologist at E.P.A.
Dr. Hirzy, EPA Toxicologist, called for a "moratorium on fluoridation" as he testified before the U.S. Senate on June 29, 2000 about the dangers of water fluoridation. Citing numerous studies he said that when the relative toxicity levels of lead, fluoride, and arsenic were compared, fluoride is slightly less toxic than arsenic and more toxic than lead. The federal maximum contaminant level (MEL) for lead is 15 parts per billion (pub), with the EPA recommending 5 pub for arsenic; yet the maximum contaminant level for fluoride has been established by EPA at 4000 pub.
Fluoride History - how it started
Fluoride was not always added to public tap water. After “research” deemed it to be not only safe, but actually beneficial, it was systematically added in public water utilities across the county.
The Aluminum Industry, Atomic Weapons, and…water fluoridation?
Research that found Fluoride to be safe was conducted in the 1940s by scientists with questionable agendas; due to fluoride’s critical involvement in Industry and Atomic Weapons. Adding it to public drinking water and touting it as “a benefit all should have” was meant to add further credence to its undeniable safety. Many are questioning it’s safety now.
NOTICE: It is the official position of NationalWaterCouncil.org that fluoride should NOT be used in public drinking water systems.
There is an overwhelming body of scientific evidence that suggests many health maladies, ranging from cosmetic disfigurement of the teeth to deadly diseases can be linked to the fluoridation of your public water.
